Since 2013, @TheMAM has graciously ran the Sketch Collab with each one ended with a success. Unfortunately this year, he's unable to pursue it this year. But all hope is not lost – he handed the torch to me in order to continue this tradition. So now I present to you all . . .
The 10th Anniversary of the Sketch Collab!
We need talented artists like yourself to bring this year's Sketch Collab to life. Your objective is to create a short animation that captures the look of pencil sketches on paper. So animating with gray-scale values (even use white for some highlights) rather than just using black is encouraged.
Here's an idea of what to expect for the Sketch Collab -- Last year's collab
You can use any animation software you feel comfortable with as long you can export it as an .mp4 or a .mov.
Before you decide to join, Please read the rules carefully. Failure to follow them will not only result to be asked to start over, but you could risk prolonging the completion of this collab. Don'tbe that guy!
Rules:
1. Animate frame-by-frame as possible – you can tween, but keep it minimal
2. Follow the given specs
3. No porn / sexual content
4. No sprites
5. Put your greatest effort (or at least try your best) on your submissions – don't half-ass it. After all, this is the 10th Anniversary.
6. Hold back on using sounds – the collab will use music. If you want to, go ahead but don't make it as your first priority.
7. Animating Sticks is allowed. . . but I don't encourage it – I don't want to see 50% of the submissions being Stickmen
8. Make sure to include a signature and/or logo at the bottom right corner of your submission. If somehow you made a name change (things can happen), let me know so I don't get confused who's who.
9. Post your progress regularly in the fourms & Discord chat once in every week or two. Who knows, we might inspire and encourage more people to join next year's collab.
Specs:
Stage: HD format – 1920 x 1080
FPS: 24
Duration: 5 – 30 seconds
Background: Custom background for your bottom-most layer (Special thanks to @Saminat )
Format: .mp4 or .mov (we will NOT use a preloader this year) – If needed, .swf and/or .flv just in case
As for deadline goes, we are starting late this year and summer is coming soon. So just to make it fair, I'm setting a checkpoint on NOVEMBER 30th – that should give about 5 months to work on the submissions. Depending on the progress, I might extend the date.
I will also host a Discord server for this Collab. Once you join, I will PM you with the link to the Discord group just in case I need to contact you. If you don't have Discord, you can either download it, or just keep posting your progress on this thread. Just make sure you follow this thread and keep your eyes open for PMs.
And if for any reason you need to leave the Collab, by all means let me know – don't just disappear. I'll be contacting you guys on a monthly basis here on NG and on Discord.
