Works fine but may have some minor bugs. I played until level 9 and noticed that the wire and decoration (the trees and that) are a little blurry on level 2, 7, 8, and 9. You can see that when not in full screen and when in full screen. On the first level there is a very innacurate hitbox around the first obstacle. I'm not sure if this was a bug in the original game but the timer also keeps running when the game is paused. Otherwise it works just fine.

Didn't know nitrome (official) uploaded their games anywhere else than their website!

They are making flash emulated ports of (some) of their older games right now, maybe we should tell them there's no point?

Now that I have tested 3 Henry Stickmin Games, and since breaking the bank and stealing the diamond have been emulated to ruffle, The Henry Stickmin Series can now be played again, now some of the games show a white screen when you click the play button, that means it's loading (it will take a while) so go check them out.

Nitrome has over 150 flash games. Only a third has been uploaded to Newgrounds, and the account hasn't shown any activity since 2014. I do believe it would have been better if they used Ruffle considering how slow they are with converting their games with their own port though.

Ruffle doesn't render Japanese text(and possibly other languages) through dynamic textboxes. I'll link my little gadget as an example, which I admit, I made to test Ruffles ability here.

Is it something to do with passing it from the AS2 code to the text box? I can send you the fla if that would help you to look at what it might be, this is above my head! It's like wizard stuff all this Ruffle, and I love it!

Oh wow, didn't expect Project Nexus to be working so well! Also those Shark games didn't work last time I had tested them, I think due to some audio stuff. Awesome to see all these running now!

Kodachrome now functions. The audio glitch remains, however.

The author did mention this:

For some reason the preloader doesn't work in this new altered version so you'll most likely get a blank screen while the game is loading - but don't worry, it'll load eventually.

and it seems to start near there.

This classic works with Ruffle (except for a few text/overlay bugs, but it's minimal and not problematic)

i haven't tested out the 2nd one fully yet (also, 12th birthday on the site) but it seems to be more or less the same, probably ok with ruffle too

I was able to click play on the loading screen and get to the next screen, not sure what I can do on that screen though - clicking the black boxes doesn't make anything happen. Are things still broken on your end with getting past loading?

It should automatically start upon clicking PLAY. Adding the ActionScript line play(); at frame 1 fixed the issue.

In 'Scene 1', frame 1, on layer 'FunctionalStuff;, there is an ActionScript line that says play();. When running on real Flash (ie. Newgrounds Player), the line is not needed and it plays like usual. On Ruffle, it's what prevents the game from getting stuck on the first frame upon clicking PLAY on the previous scene

Some updates:


  • I figured out the sound playing in Kodachrome is the dialogue sound effect.
  • No errors in Chrome's developer tools.


  • I remembered afterward that the author broke the code, but never fixed it on this site.
  • The bug I reported is close to the bug he caused.
  • Do not include the games in the list as fixing them through Ruffle may be impossible.


  • Looking in Chrome's developer tools I find these errors:
Unknown AVM1 opcode: Unknown {opcode: 137, data: [213, 72, 143, 2, 3, 0] }
Got error when post-instantiating video: Unsupported video codec type Vp6WithAlpha

  • I saw several Mochi-related errors as well.
  • The developer's tools have too many errors to put here.

I decided to check MNWS's other games.

  • These work
  • However
  • No platforms generated, no errors in the Developer Tools.

Bambee was always a video file stuffed in an SWF, it's best to just stick with the MP4 version. Ruffle does have video support coming but it doesn't work at the moment. I disabled the Ruffle checkbox on Bambee.
