If you go to the API page in your project, there's an "Advanced" link in the top right of the header bar. Click that and in the paragraph below there is text to "click here" to switch to the old Flash API. Do that and it should guide you through the rest. Flash API documentation is in the wiki.

Man, it's been how long since Flash "died"? 4 YEARS!!? ... damn. time sure flies. I miss Final Fantasy Sonic and Fancy Pants, plus all those Mario and Sonic Flash games that I should and some that maybe shouldn't see back then.

I made my part to Newgrounds and the Jam too and made my FIRST. EVER. GAME. EVER!! Wie cool ist das bitte? :D

Go check it out, released it on the 26th and I made it with sheer passion to me and the 2000s along with my k00l d00d programmer Dan. Here ya go:

In nights I try myself to repose, But my memories and traumas in me pierce; my chest and head like a spear so fierce; so hard it shatters to pieces my miserable machination of a heart; Truly morose.

Just living a life of a world crumbling away.

Quick question, lets say a flash project Im working on worked on Ruffle in previous versions but for whatever reason doesnt work with the current Ruffle version.

See this github issue (https://github.com/ruffle-rs/ruffle/issues/15461). The Away3D Demo I posted a while back worked with the November 24th Nightly release of Ruffle for the web. However, as of March 3rd, 2024 Ruffle will throw a panic. Is it possible to upload my submission with a custom HTML wrapper with a older Ruffle version? Will that be ok?

Theres multiple different ways to make a Flash game. Most people for example use Adobe Flash CS 5.5 or 6. I actually used to use Flash Builder, it was an "eclipse port" for flash development that imo was easier than CS since I usually worked more on the programming side. Nowadays Haxe works pretty well, thats what im using as of right now

I can program and do music/sfx, see my profile for my work. I would love to work with an animator and make something fun, I know it's pretty late but I have a bloody flash itch that needs scratching.

i cannot find a single link pointing to download Flash. I feel like that would be crucial for a flash game jam

Adobe has made it incredibly hard to get old copies of Flash, as if they are trying to speedrun removing it from the earth.

I'll keep on looking for some downloads/solutions and will share any good findings here as long as that doesn't make for any kind of potential legal issue. I can host downloads on my google drive if need be. Let us be the guardians of the lost holy Flash Player.

OpenFL seemed promising to me but I had some 16/32/64 bit incompatabilites, and no GUI + use of the command line + purely code only probably poses a major barrier of entry to most (at least did for me).

If the output is an SWF that works in Ruffle, that's fine!

I have a question, how are winners determined? based on votes or how good the game actually is?

Winners are selected by judges, although voting scores can help when things are close between entries.
