I tried applying to be a gaming judge but then I realized I don't qualify because my highest-scored non-collab games are at about 3.96 stars. Ah well, they're all over 4 stars in my heart

For example: my Madness Day animation has over 4 stars, yet credits 50Steaks the musician, and RareKirby who did additional animation. Or does it have to be purely solo?

I doubt it has to be purely solo. You were the main person who made that submission so the high score is largely thanks to you. I imagine the no-collab rule is to make sure you actually deserve the credit for the high score rather than just being a part of something large that got a high score because so many people participated.
I think you're right that it is a bit subjective and someone has to make a judgment call though. NG20 is definitely a collab and even has collab in the title, but could I still get credit for the high score because I was the main coder rather than just a small-part collaborator? Probably not, because it wasn't the coding that made people give it high scores.

Keep in mind that any pre-2018 votes have been wiped, so scores may be vastly different if you have a couple of dinosaurs in the closet.
