We were joking around about this in supporters, but I think this is a good idea:

What if we could vote on the quality of threads? Like 0-5? Just like the portal.

I think votes in that case should be publicly visible so that if some jerk wants to be a jerk and start blam-spamming then they can be seen by others

It is amusing to think about, being able to sort threads by score like any other thing posted to the site.

Sort by reactions? Reshuffle posts in a thread by reactions too?

So... age/sage but with gradation? Personally I think ETMA is good enough as it is already big change.

Great feature to add to the site!

Small issue however, the "from the forums" box in the community page doesn't exclude threads from filters I have toggled off. I still get nsfw art threads popping up in there :x

I do like this idea. To make it easier internally/have it conform to the site-wide standard more maybe SFW could actually be an E rating, and NSFW an A, and so those would be the only two ratings stored and toggled for forums in particular, just displayed as SFW/NSFW in the layout/post box. Sitewide T/M rating settings for users would then not apply at all to the BBS, but it doesn't seem they'd need to, if E is still the default then users who disable the E rating would hide most threads regardless, and for NSFW topics there'd be less need for distinction between M/A...

Just an idea, if such a change seems meritable/simple enough/without other negative consequence!

Either way nice update, good to have these on the forums too.

At 4/17/24 08:35 AM, TomFulp wrote: We’ve rolled out a series of forum updates this week to introduce ratings to forum threads. When making a new thread, you will now see a selector to set the intended rating.

The main priority of this update is to give Adult ratings to adult threads. We aren’t planning to split hairs over the nuances of E and T threads.

Important note: This doesn’t mean you can post nudes, or porn you’ve found on the Internet in an adult thread. Adult threads are intended for artists who are sharing their art, in particular in the Art Forum, where there are a good number of NSFW threads that have now been updated.

We still need to make updates to show ratings in the thread listings. We also plan to let thread creators edit the rating on their own threads at any time after the thread has been created.

The forum listings and forum search will now apply your ratings filters, so if you think threads are missing, check your filters. The filter toggle wasn't there when this launched but it has now been added.

I hope everyone is enjoying their spring! The feed overhaul is still in progress and won’t result in any visible changes but will improve overall performance and server storage for feeds. Similarly there have been text editor updates in progress that will mainly be back-end improvements. This year has been all about "not fun but necessary" projects so far.

Better than no age rating system on the forums! I mean I don't think we really need the T and M. I think it could of been simplified to just Everyone and Adults Only but hey. What works, works.

Does this mean artists can only post NSFW they personally made or is it globally "no porno"?

The mobile forum layout is already pretty cramped, adding the rating next to each thread would eat up more of the limited space so it's hard to say if we'd get them into the thread listings there.

If that thread is rated Adult, artists can share the NSFW art they've made. We want to avoid accumulating a lot of adult images that haven't been made by artists here, though, so it should only be art made by the artist.

I understand....Just mentioning; the idea (suggestion) was to move things to the right side, leaving space to add the "rating icons" in the left corner of the edge of the screen (of course, in a slightly smaller size) although the idea is to indicate the indicative ratings if the entire filter is activated, I remembered that I only had to leave 1 filter activated at a time....

I made an example in editing format of what the idea was:

Well thats all.
