Gameplay lacks all variety
I recommend this game if you are interested in fighting hundreds battles where the number of enemies doesn't matter, because they attack you one at a time, and you do nothing but whack them with your sword and drink the occasional potion. Strategy is utterly absent from the gameplay.
The game would probably be more fun if the battle sequences (boss fights are no different) were replaced by a summary of how many enemies were killed, how much damage you took, and how many potions you had to quaff.
The functions of the stats are not really explained, and I am not sure that the elemental resistances actually did anything (though AC seemed to work against both magic and physical attacks).
It's too bad there are no anonymous reviews; my only defense is that I felt like my scathing review would lack moral force if I didn't suffer though the gameplay until the end. Those were four hours that could have been better spent watching paint dry...
A Glitch Trick
First if all, I LOVE THIS GAME!!! Old school experience grinding was a blast, and I liked how the available equips change as you level up, not by the town. Their are some deffinite bug issues, but not near enough to deter greta rpg fans like me. I loved this battle system compared to the first game(much fairer) and the environments and color schemes are going to stick in my brain for years to come. Now That my actuall review is done, I found A glitch Trick in the game that can help people who are complaining about item prices and the difficulty of the game. This trick pretty much allows you to get new, better equips without wasting money. To do this, Make sure all your items are in an equip or item slot, if they're in the new item/sell item slots, thet will get deleted. Save your game, then enter a shop and sell all of your items, then by the most expensive item that you can afford, equip it, and reload your game. DO NOT SAVE BEFORE RELOADING. you should be outside the shop. go on your item screen. You should see all of your old items in the Sell Items box, as well as your new items that you bought before reloading, and you should have all of your gold. Re-equip everything, save your game, and repeat this process until you have the best equips that you can afford. Note: This trick does NOT work with potions. If you need a little extra cash, go find quest items such as the shovel and sell them too. They can only be sold once, but you can still complete the quest as long as you saved before sell the quest item.
