Reviews for "Talesworth Arena"

Excellently Done

This is one of thee most thoroughly well crafted games, flash or otherwise, ever. The fighting system is very original and engaging, the AI is good, though ultimately predictable (thank god!). The art, music, and story are all solid and well above flash average. And it was definitely long enough for my tastes.

I played as a psion, and found it to be very challenging about midway through, and felt it got a easier toward the end. One I was strong enough, I no longer seemed to need to counter their strategy very much so much as have a good strategy of my own and pummel them with it.

Oh, and I was just a smidge frustrated by the riddle at the end. I'm almost certain I know the answer to the riddle (TG) but do not know how it needs to be phrased. No minus points for that though, as I could just be dead wrong.

excellent

one of the best browser rpgs ive ever played.
animations would be a great idea to add in, like maybe a picture of you and your opponent battling in the center of the screen.

jinxology responds:

Thanx a ton, glad you like it. Yeah, next game I make is going to have lots of animation I think. The people have spoken!

nice game dude

iloved it!

Feel Honoured

Because I never ever write reviews. But something about this game reminded me distinctly of my past, especially one game in paticular, "A Hero's Quest for Glory." Extremely old but seminal (in my mind). Anyway, the atmosphere and the great, and I do mean excellent writing, are similar.

I love the writing. It fills the gaps in animation. It keeps my imagination alive. It would be great if you did have streaming animation but that would have to be above the combat because the fighting system you have rox. Getting to know you enemy and then stun at critical moments is extremely pleasing.

However, I don't feel an overarching story line (at least so far). It would be nice if he had a mission to accomplish. Don't say it all in one drop, like most games do, "you are so and so with such and shuch history trying to some or another thing." Usually text heavy beginnings are skipped or trodded through. No, I hope that you slowly reveal the past and link together the future. You can do that. Your a good writer.

Would I like to be able to walk around to the different locations? Yes. Would I like to have to figure out puzzles to find the gems/notice them on the street? Yes. Would I like to have more people to associate with? Yes.

Still, I really enjoyed what is represented here.
