Reviews for "Jumper Stick"

Mixed thoughts?

On the one hand I really want to like this. I mean, I clicked on the link thinking it would be a tribute to the wonderful song Jumper by Third Eye Blind. But then it turned out to be referring to the movie instead and I was even happier, since that movie was always better as a flash-video concept than a full motion picture to begin with. "Hey," I thought "maybe someone's finally made the cool fight sequence that movie should have been!"

The character's attitude at the opening is great, happily destroying the minions. But... why is he even fighting the minions? We find out his target can teleport, so can fight on an even footing with the protagonist. But why not Jump past all the flunkies straight to the boss? We're not given any reason for their violent deaths, which makes it a bit... pointless. The machine gun dodge is a great moment, and his smiley replies set the character nicely. Good use of Yoyo's setting as well, you get points for that in my book.

Then on to the boss fight. The first thing I noticed is that your editing job of "What's It Feel Like to Be A Ghost" is a bit choppy. I know the music wasn't the focus of the flash, but that's a good fight song and the uneven edits really pull the viewer out of the scene. Then, while fighting the boss, it turns into a game of ping-pong. The characters aren't fighting. They're standing their taking turns beating up each other. As soon as the sword comes into play there's no blocks or really even movement at all from whoever is being hit. I'm sure other people will tell you but you need an S in "surrender meanS death". And finally, it really isn't at all clear how our "hero" (light red) gets the sword back. The boss steals the sword and is beating up on the hero when he... drops it while blinking? It's just unclear and a bit Deus Ex Machina for my taste. "And then he took the sword back and killed him the end."

All in all a pretty neat little animation. It is mostly just a platform to show off the concept of the jump-fighting, which is as it should be, just with a few rough spots. 6/10 for the things I've said but it is well done so 4/5

pretty awesome

that was reeeeaaaaalllyy good, but i thought he walked away from killing the red guy too shortly afterwoods but i couldn't see anything else wrong with it :D
what was the song in the credits called? i think you should have given credit to the artist for the song.

Epic`

That was AWESOME.

ehh

the boss died a bit fast

i just noticed

How come you can ALWAYS kill the clones easier than the original when the last clone standing becomes the clone? PS: great job!
