Reviews for "Satanorium"

I am disappointed, but I hope you try again.

I was very eager to play this game after I saw the trailer. I am a huge horror fan, so I am always looking for more horror games. This game was very interesting to me. I thought it had tremendous potential. Sadly, I do not think it reached it's potential.

My problem is with the mood and atmosphere. I did not feel that the mood was set properly, or that the atmosphere was immersive enough.

The game was too short. It felt very rushed. I was never able to immerse myself in the atmosphere. There was not enough time to build suspense.

Show, don't tell. I wish you had shown the introduction rather than write it and leave it for us to read. A video showing the ghost and the girl's reaction would have had much more impact. It would have helped me associate with the character and care for her. The text introduction is jarring; a video introduction would have immersed me in the game more. As it is now, the introduction is so quick and uninspired that I could not emotionally invest in the character. A video conclusion would have been much more satisfying as well.

I wish you had used voice-acting rather than text boxes. Text boxes distract from the experience and the atmosphere, which are critical to horror games. The dialogue sections would have tremendously from good voice-acting.

The musical transitions were jarring and distracting. I noticed several times that moving from one screen to another the music would change dramatically. Sometimes the music would suddenly disappear; other times it would rise unexpectedly. These poor transitions definitely detracted from my experience.

Despite all of my criticism, I would still like to see you try this sort of game again. The graphics are this game are beautiful; they really established the mood. The story was cliché, but that was OK; it was a simple and effective story. I for one did not have much trouble with bugs. I am terrible at puzzle-solving in point-and-click games, so I will not comment on the difficulty. I hope you make another horror point-and-click game for Halloween. Just remember to work on the length, introduction and music.

So . . .

I have a lead pipe the guard turns his head and I still can't hit him? I mean I was agile enough to get away from him the first time, I figure it shouldn't be that hard to sneak up on him.

Good Game

but it still needs improvement. Oh and guys, the safe works, you just have to hit enter and type the combination, then hit enter again. What bugged me most whas that that the spells got longer, you didn't have any time anymore to look for the pieces. Additionally I found the idea of blocking tab quite good but you can still use it and remember where the indicator was. It was also too short and the "calling the ghost" sequence somewhat bugged, I think. I had to use two combinations. Also I don't get what the scissors are for and the hanging corpse wasn't really neccessary, right?

Well...

Point and Click Horror adventure games are probably some of my favorite on Newgrounds. There have been some classic ones presented to us before, so when I saw a horror point and click adventure game on the #1 Weekly Feature I figured I'd be in for a treat.

To me, the game just didn't do it for me. The atmosphere was kind of cheesy and wasn't very creative at all (just another scary little girl, which in fact, was even scary) and echoing from the review below me, it lacks common sense. And that's not even the biggest negative effect in this game, its very buggy, I've read many other comments where others have had to start all over because of glitches. It makes me wonder, why is this game #1? It's glitchy, lacks common sense, isn't scary at all, and the graphics weren't even doing it for me. It looked too much like a cheap rip off of a PS1 game.

Anyways, how did myself and many other of the Newgrounds users notice all of these flaws but Newgrounds themself didn't? And if they did, why put a game this flawed in the #1 spot of the week?

eh......

Its okay.
the ending was a real clicker :/

what cop carries a flashlight with no batteries though
