Reviews for "Submachine: 32 chambers"

good game...(possible spoiler alert)

*possible spoiler*

i can recognize that first date shown is the miyan "dooms day" *note in some areas they got the date and month backwords* but whats the significance of the year 7137? im guessing its the end of a different miyan calender cycle?

uhh...What?

What happened at the end?

Excellent if bite-sized puzzler.

I love the submachine games. I was excited to discover, after checking your account, that you had published a new one. This is one of the best point and click puzzle game collections on NG or indeed on the net.

This edition is no exception and lives up to the usual standard of artwork and atmosphere displayed in the rest of the series, although it is probably one of the shortest instalments.

The difficulty was slightly easy, however, and the puzzles not very difficult to work out. The main problem I found was in spotting really obscure little hidden panels which were mandatory for completing the game. This was slightly frustrating, [spoiler] especially the piece outside the 'prison gate' which was 100% hidden [and yes I know you left a clue BUT I imagine most people, including myself, would assume the clue was for the gate, not the topaz.]

I also agree with the guy a little before me. [Spoiler] The only other problem I had was that I did spend a long time trying every combination on the two stone wheels to try and open the 'prison gate'. However, after trying that and several other options, I eventually had to admit defeat and consult the walkthrough - only to discover you had to drag it up with the mouse. I'm sorry but that is cheap, it feels like you've completely changed the goalposts on the way you solve the game. I also feel that the way the level was designed - i.e. having the two stone wheels directly besides the 'prison gate', contributed to this confusion. If they had been revealed inside the tunnel after the gate had been opened, this might have been more coherent. Perhaps you placed them where you did deliberately to create this confusion. Usually, I would agree with making things more confusion and adding red herrings, however, because people wouldn't normally think of mouse dragging items in a series which otherwise doesn't require it, I feel a change of level design [or puzzle design] would be in order.

All in all it is an excellent game - with just a couple of minor points to be corrected, in my own humble opinion. This might have seemed like a really long rant but I really do love these games - these are some of my favourites on this site - and I look forward to the next instalment. Good luck and keep up the good work!

fgrrr

I can't find the fourth piee of the blue crystal :(

but otherwise a good game.

Nice

The only thing that threw me off was the sliding portcullis wall. I tried in vain to find a way to open it for a good ten minutes before giving up and looking at the walkthrough... and realizing I was supposed to just drag it up with the mouse... *sigh*
