Very strategic and cool.
Most strategy zombie games I've played on Newgrounds weren't that good, except for The Last Stand series, and Autumn War, which I think Autumn War was severely underrated. But this one here takes the cake, and to me a zombie game here hasn't taken the cake in awhile.
The survival runs made me nervous, and you felt a sense of desperation; trying to blow up the bridge, scavenging for supplies, and building new buildings, while all hoping at the same time you strategically put a reasonable quota of survivors on each task hoping it would get the job done without badly effecting anything else's progress, and hoping the survivors doing the hard work don't get munched on, and that you also correctly supply and beef up snipers to defend all the work from getting trashed by zombies, so fun! Like I said, a real sense of desperation and frustration, and a real sense of stress.
I also liked the variety of buildings to scavenge, and their associated threat levels, and supply levels, and it was well thought out to make hardware stores that of course had more wood than other places, and police stations with the most ammo. It was neat how you could scavenge debris as well, like wrecked cars, not much there but it was great for little pick me ups when you couldn't reach a building to scavenge right away, nicely done.
What else made this so fun, and basically endless, is the option to browse maps, choose a randomized map, and download maps from other places. So once you pretty much make it past the campaign its an endless amount of brains and guts from there on out. Can players create their own maps, and if so where? Good show for so much variety.
One small down part though, survivors must eat food and drink water, maybe if you make a part 2, you could make food and water salvage hotspots, like grocery stores and gas stations, and maybe a little food and water here and there in some houses? If so that would be great, in part 2 have the whole crowd as a whole have a food and water bar, unless you want each individual to have a food and water bar. I think managing food and water for every individual would be nightmarish to manage for some people, but maybe some people can do it, but if you think that is too hard, just give a food and water bar to the crowd as a whole as I said above. Please consider this if your planning on making part 2, but definetely keep the wood and bullets salvage.
I think there should also be some mobile combat units, but to be fair they don't do nearly as much damage as a sniper, but they get a fair amount of ammo, and you can give them lucky shots at times to take out the zombies in a single pistol shot, just a thought.
Also its missing a classic zombie touch, have some zombies die sometimes with their heads blowing off, and brain matter spewing all over the pavement, that would be a great touch.
Nonetheless, this is still a great RTS game, original or not its been tweaked to greatness, and I enjoyed playing it, most people couldn't pull this off as I've seen, but you did a great job in making this, it makes you feel all the needs of desperate survival and stress, getting through it all by having a keen strategy ability, and no beat around the bush crap. Its very fun constructing things and scavenging, it just needs a few more things as I've explained then I think this game would really fly.
Good job, please make more.
