Reviews for "A Boy and his Box"

Marvelous

A very entertaining, albeit simple, piece of storytelling akin to the tales of Grimm. The storyboard animation did the amazing storytelling justice and it emphasized it's focus on telling a good story rather than looking good. Sometimes the drawings were a bit sloppy and I kept looking for the golden box in many of the frames, which seemed to dissapear more often than not, but overall it was well done.

The voice acting was great and the music was amazing, but sometimes the two overlapped and they interfered.

All in all an enjoyable piece of work, so much so that I took the time to write this review, and I don't do that often.

Nice.

The animation was good, the art, the plot, and the looks of the people. The only downside, I'd say, is how quiet the narrator is, and that she doesn't change her voice for each character. Very good, though.

Well, I really liked it

I liked this story. It's quite calm, relaxing, and the lack of combat is actually quite good. Of course it has nothing original, but i didn't wait anything original of it, so i wasn't desappointed at all.

It's a tale, a good tale, quite touching, and i enjoyed it a lot.

I only put 9/10 for one thing: some details should have been more studied, as why he dreams of the dragon and the rebuilding city... I really wonder "why is he dreaming of this?", and i didn't get an answer. I think this animation is the sort of "base" for a longer, maybe 1 hour animation movie with thickened story and twists! That would be really really great!

Anyway, I liked it very much, so 5/5, but just 9/10 for the little lack of precisions on some details...

The dreams foreshadowed the characters. The Sinewgar beast is a play off of the word: Sinew, which means strength. The other dream has a similar foreshadowing. I guess I made it too subtle.

this is awesome!

A whimsical storybook tale...

I really enjoyed the movie, especially the storybook narration (great voice actress); however, either at points the narrator's voice was too soft or the background music was too loud and it became a bit muddled (in my opinion - the background music was too loud; also perhaps a subtitle option next time?). One little thing: at the end in the golden tower, the narrator says the boy looks to his left (which is the viewer's left but the boy's right) and then to his right (again, it's reversed).

Xcyper33 responds:

Haha yeah, someone pointed that out to me but I figured I'd let it go XD.
