Reviews for "Cardinal Quest"

Decent

This game is pretty decent, and kept me entertained long enough. The progression of items and enemies is pretty good.

Here are the problems:

1. Class balance - the Wizard is much better than the Fighter and Thief (whether Fighter or Thief is better depends on the spells you get).

2. It's all about luck - beating the game is mainly about finding the right spells in the beginning. A wizard with 2x fireball has enough firepower to destroy almost anything (especially if you have 2x spells that disable, such as fear, freeze, and charm, and 1x spell for fleeing, such as teleport). With 2x fireball, you can basically just turtle and recharge. For fighters, the heal spell is very useful, and can make a big difference. If you have no fireballs, the game will eventually progress to a point where you can't continue once you run out of healing potions, because engaging in melee will risk losing life.

3. The ending sucks. There are no boss battles.

I like me some dungeon crawlers.

There seemed to be some weird bug, or maybe it was just unexplained as a feature, but whenever the enemy would summon a mirror, I wouldn't be able to use my spells properly. It would auto target to the summon, but I couldn't actually cast the spell.

Other than that, the game was pretty awesome. A little short, but that's just me wanting more.

Hmmmm

What program did you use? I need it please

I demand a sequel!

This site needs more dungeon crawler games.I've already had a blast playing this game, the strategy you need to make in order to pass or kill enemies has gotten me a headache, but it still has that fun and challenging aspect to it.
The spells are great and represent each of the three classes very well.Regarding that, I think either character customization or more classes should be induced, in order to increase the replay value, but other than that, no complaints here =)
Good job, looking forward for more!! :D

Really like this one

It's difficult, but not impossible. It requires strategy and figuring out how best to approach the increasingly difficult monsters. I think the wizard is the easiest to beat the game with, especially if you are lucky enough to find good spells early on. I wish you could have more than 5 spells, but I recognize that if there was more, the strategy would be diminished some.

The only complaint I have is, well, the end. I don't like that there's no end boss. I had all these potions and stuff stockpiled for one, and then it never came. However, aside from that relatively minor gripe, it's a great game with good replayability. It's challenging enough to not be boring, but not too challenging that it's pure luck.
