When I lie becomes out of control, it starts to make itself real. I guess that must be the moral of the story here.
A simple man who loved his job of being a teacher has a very bad student who made a lie, a rumor about a man in the woods, he fueled the lie by making others believe, showing evidence of it being there only so the kid can get what he wants. When the lie leaked out to others beside the kids, it turned worse for the teacher because he was suppose to watch over, protect the kids but even though he says its a lie from a kid who made it up, no one would believe him. So thanks to the kids lie he lost everything, his job, his home, no one would even hire him, no one would acknowledge him, thus he went down a spiral of madness and he became the lie only to get rid of the source from where the lie began.
