Reviews for "Congo"

For the purpose of just an interesting game, but not necessarily a well-done one, this is a good one.

There are some flaws that just make this unviable for high ratings, but it's unique.

Game joining is broken; when i type a name that is already in one of the games, i take control of that player in a game that was already played for some turns.
Other than that, I enjoyed it till it got a bit repetitive, but still a fun time.

BoardShockGames responds:

Sorry about that. By the moment we use an auto-join system to access game rooms so some times you can access to games that are allready in play. In that cases you get the seat of a bot, never of a player.
We are working in a new room system, but we will made some improves in this one to inform players about the gamestate.

Thanks a lot!

I find this game interesting but there are some bugs or strange behavior such as a round finished when there still are vacancies left for two players (vacancies that are points we can take, not border between two player fields).

Also, the local multiplayer is not working. We can not write a name, and we can not play (both problems are probably linked as I suppose that we need names in order to play).

Finaly, not a big deal but the AI seems to be random. I am pretty sure we can program it to be smarter (using some good strategies). A good AI is probably used for local multiplayer, as we may be able to set the difficulty. The online is done to play with other players so the AI is ok for that (in my opinion).

BoardShockGames responds:

Thanks a lot for your accurate analysis!

I guess that behavior you mention is a normal game mechanic: you only have 12 pieces to use so when you run out of pieces that round ends for you, regardless of vacancies in the board).
Also notice that vacancies are not equal to points, you get points when others players get blocked, and the number of points is equal to their left pieces. I hope i have explained it clear, if not, ask again :-)

Thanks for the bug detection. I've just uploaded a new version correcting it.

You i've been very accurate with AI analysis, but as you said, we are focused in a player vs player games, either local and online. Even so, we have some improvements for AI ready, we are testing and balancing it and we will upload it as soon as possible.

Greetings!

Automatic dislike to this game ... you don't get to start fresh? I jumped into a bots roll on the 3rd round with no points. I don't mind losing a fair game, but that's pretty crappy. Otherwise pretty simple concept. Having a time limit is nice.

It'd be better if you started fresh games, not take a bots roll.

Otherwise ... game isn't super catchy or interesting. Graphics are definitely nothing to write home about. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5. Good concept, neat game, not super catchy or interesting and the graphics quality is non-existent. The music matches the theme, however, so +.5 for that.

No-one to connect with... Took ages to start a game for me. It also lagged though it was very low in graphics. I wanted more game modes, more functions. It's an ok idea for a game, although not too novel or exciting

BoardShockGames responds:

Thanks a lot for comment.
What system and browser are you using to play?
We hope to introduce that kind of improves in the near future.
