Reviews for "Cube Escape: Theatre"

I loved this one just like I loved the entire series so far! Don't know how I only noticed this one now when it's been out in April.

I love the morbid theme. The art and subtle animations, especially those when transitioning walls, was great and top notch. I only got stumped when things weren't obvious that they could be clicked on (the paintings to show the numbers for the brain door) let alone "rubbed," but that's definitely somethings you can work on. Also, it wasn't completely obvious that one glass of blood had multiple "bloods"... I was spending a while looking for more blood when I didn't have to!! Oh well :p. All in all it was fantastic. 100% would recommend.

Great, but some of the puzzles aren't exactly intuitive in the mode of using a mouse. For example, there was no indication that the (spoiler) paintings can be rubbed. Definitely a 4/5 excellently produced game.

I was having fun until the game glitched. The frame for the black cube is completely gone. what do I do?

This is game to me is definitely flawed. Not in a experience-breaking way, but these issues are noticeable, at least to me. Let's get the good going first:

The game is absolutely BE-YOO-TEA-FULL. This game rocks in the visuals department: The animation (besides a few nitpicks I've got) is fluid and unique. You will not find a game, or any other piece of art, the is the same as this because it is dripping with personal touch.

This piece made me actually question my life and the sacred innards of my mind. The fact that the whole game (and the rest of this series) is confined to 6 panels of interactive material had me feeling claustrophobic from an image on my PC screen. Kudos, RustyLake. Kudos.

Now for my issues: I will reiterate the fact that this game is great and is not dragged down by its issues. To me, the issues show to me that the developer is human and capable of mistakes which actually makes me happy.

The single animation issue I have is with speech animation. People seem to continue moving their lips and jaws long after they stopped talking. This actually had me madly clicking the screen getting the people to continue speaking while they flapped their jaws for 5 to 6 seconds after finishing a line. This is especially noticeable at the end with the final conversation.

The game-play issue I have is the fact of selecting, or rather deselecting selected items. The game does not "undo" a selection after you try a combination of item and environment (which is a large sum of puzzle solutions in this as with most point-and-clicks.) which will have you doing the right thing, but the game not registering it as such because you were still holding the item you used two minutes ago in a completely separate puzzle.

This game is GOOD. Play IT. Just be aware if its issues. I wish RustyLake well and I hope this is helpful in the next of his game, whether it is another Cube Escape or something else entirely.
