Reviews for "Dead Detention 2 #9"

I just recently came back to newgrounds and your Alula falling is the first game I played. I was blown away. Your stories are so creative and yes its not really a game, its an interactive comic book, but I love that idea. Letting us be involved in the story! Thank you!

The plot is silly and the art style is far from good. Most importantly, this is NOT a game: it is just a chaotic comic with "Boom"s and japaneese random characters doing silly fights.
Minigames are bad and boring.

I have nothing against this game. It is good in some ways. Someone may also find it entertaining. But I can't believe this series is one of the most favourite series on NewGrounds.

Thanks! I'm working on the finale now :-)

Okay, time for another interesting review.
First off, I would just like to say that I enjoy the mystery and story enough now that regardless of the artwork, which as another person pointed out is rather charming in its own way, this world is really really quite fascinating.

I enjoy the building climax that's happening here but also like how it doesn't seem to be any world changing finale. Even if the Moon King, with his raging overconfidence, somehow gets defeated in all of this, it's not like Zone 3 or the moon cult will be destroyed entirely.

The entire arc of Max has been so wildly off kilter I don't even know what's going on anymore. In the first series he was just a kid thrust into a dangerous zombie survival situation trying to survive. But now he's apparently become a Chaos Child, or something else given that the Bridge is speaking to him directly. Dr Miller's son and Shia's brother.

Speaking of Shia, I never expected him to break character and turn to fight against the Moon King. Also, was it your intention to have him start looking a lot like the Moon King? I kind of expected him to just continue being the horrible killing monster that he was back in the Chaos series. But I guess that's what got him imprisoned in that weird in-between temple dimension until Death talked with him.

On the subject of people unexpectedly changing, Commander Dai. We saw it in the Chaos girl series, but once Chaos Christmas rolled around, I was convinced he was as cold blooded a scientific bad guy could be. He is smart, distant, and completely ruthless as a character. Lying to people's faces to get them to surrender easier. After seeing how he acted towards everyone, including Ami, our character in Chaos, Stella, Alula's aunt when she was just a girl, and really everyone else, I never suspected he would betray his organization. But I guess when you threaten the man's family he is willing to do more than we thought.

Also I still am very intrigued and very caught in suspense as to how readily everyone is avoiding the topic of Sora. The dialogue is vague to indicate if something bad happened to her off screen and they've simply accepted it or if she's just simply removed from everything still being in... Japan? Since the last time we saw/heard from her in the time-line was what... 3 months ago?

Back to Max though, I still wonder if he was always meant to be a Chaos Child or if this was something that his mother, Dr. Miller, created on purpose. Or maybe she was trying to keep him from learning to use that power after what happened to Shia? I feel so bad for Max. He's almost lost everyone he cares about at this point now. His dad died before the series began. His mom got offed by the Moon King, he found out that Shia is his brother... or do we just know that? He seems to have been blasted off screen despite being the most readily powerful Chaos Child. After the events of Dead detention 1, and working so hard to save Sora and Naomi, Sora has at least disappeared and now he's desperately trying to save Naomi who's been bitten.

Some side things I wish I had thought to note to you before. So I enjoy how Max has been carrying around the same stuff pretty much this entire time. I would have liked to see him use it a little more than just the toy light-saber. Still can't believe it took that long for the thing to break, what what it made out of? Metal?! Too bad we didn't get to see him use his cell phone or DS anymore. I also think you missed out on a great opportunity for him to use his $5.40 he's been carrying around this entire time. Maybe like when they were held up in a room and someone says they're thirsty or hungry after a day of trying to stay alive and there's a vending machine they don't want to break for some arbitrary reason. (Insert lame joke about not being seen as criminals here.) Then max is like "Oh wait! I have moneys!" and gets snacks and drinks. (Insert 4th wall break 0.8 Jacket joke here.)

EPIC LEVEL ANIME-Y HIGHSCHOOL STUPID OTAKU ADVENTURE ACTION EXPLOSIONS YAY STUFF HERE!

That's all I have to say for now, looking forward to the finale!
