Reviews for "Leap Jet Bear"

I have finished the game and collected all the crystals even though I have not collected all the hearts and thunderbolts yet nor I have done all achievements (I will continue playing), I felt like I needed to write a review.

First of all I am really amazed how well made this game is. It has a special element that even if it is truly difficult, challenging and requires skill, you somehow get addicted but never become bored or enraged when you fail. The more times you fail the more motivated you become to keep trying. You can play it for hours, have fun and enjoy every single moment of it and end up losing the sense of time (hours become minutes). For me this is the characteristic of a really good, well-made game.

There is only one thing I didn't like which is the "Checkpoints" option in level-select. I tried to complete the "No Safety Net" achievement thinking that you should just go above the checkpoint portals and ignore them(which was really challenging in some levels), so thats what I did until level 16 when I realized that there was an option for checkpoints! So what I was doing was completely pointless! It drove me mad xD ! What made it more difficult is the fact that I was collecting the crystals at the same time too! So maybe it would be better make it more obvious or make a message with this "checkpoints" option appearing before starting a level.

I read @fuckoffasshole's comment saying "-don't try to have both crystals and no checkpoint beaten level. Ever." So thats ofc challenging but not too difficult to achieve except maybe the last 3 levels and especially level 17 which is hell.

Also I am not sure if this is a bug or not but on Level 7 if you press repeatedly and quickly the UP button when you spawn, you will be able to avoid the red area and fly up to the next area. This is a big shortcut for this level.

Anyways that's all I have to say,now I go do the rest of the achievements. Thanks for this amazing platformer and I would be really happy to see more content from you.

Good job and keep it up! -5/5

I had an argument with @Miroko on how to make the checkpoints button, I guess I was wrong.
About level 7, that's something we left. We thought it's nice to have tricks on every other level.
Thank you for the awesome review, I'm glad the game kept your attention.

Guys, you seriously roxx. The game is very cool, i love the graphics, the ambient, and the gameplay is really fun and DAMN challenging. I'm a tryhard-er and the level 6 made me mad, the 7 too. The levels are well designed.

BUT.

It really needs more polishing ! I'm not sure the sounds effects are good. The saw sound looks really poor, the transitions between the levels could be improved instead of having the bear stuck for some seconds ! It needs a little more work but i can't give you less than 5 stars. The game is still really good !

Well, this is a pleasant surprise! I suck but I love it. Reminds me a lil of Super Meat Boy but with more mechanics. Nice job and I'm gonna play some more! :D

PS Also the soundtrack rocks! :3

Getting the Crystals is like a slow paced MegaMan on Steroids. Does that make any sense? Anyways, I like it. There is slight performance issues, likely originating from Flash, and, at least for me, it doesn't break the game.

As far as the platforming mechanics go, they're fine tuned and are, as already stated, comparable to the MegaMan franchise.

Despite all this, because of it's genre, it will always be overlooked, which is sad considering the potential of the developer/designer, and the unique character they've created. The genre is saturated. Regardless, I think if this were to continue progressing it'd have strong marketing potential. The same could be said for a game like Unstrong. :P

Anyways, good luck on future games, Madnukin!

Very fun game. It can be hard, but it's never unbearable! (has someone already made that pun?) Definitely worth completing entirely, though I do wish some medals were worth more than others. Maybe have "Achievement Hunter" worth 100pts, while "Shiny Treasure" and "Congratulations?" are worth 25pts.

I'm curious about the name. Is it saying that the bear has a leap jet? Is that a type of jet? Or is it telling the jet bear to leap? i.e. Leap, jet bear!

The music is very good, though to others I concur; it gets rather repetitive after a while. Maybe it doesn't need one track per level, but at least more than one for the entire game. The background also becomes uninteresting over time; perhaps the game could be split into sections with one background and one track per section. Maybe the music could even be based around the backgrounds. The art is also very nice. The medal designs are cute. I think there should have been more than one color for the bears navel for the bonus characters. The pink bear could definitely have had pink and purple as it's colors. I'm not as sure about the other ones. Maybe green and blue for the green bear, and white and grey for the black bear.

Oh, before I finish, here's one tip for level 17. If you get in the right spot, you can pass right in between the saw blades! Just wait for the saws to come down and then jump and fly through them. This'll give you more time to get to the top. It won't help with bonus modes, though it may make it easier to complete without checkpoints.

MadNukin responds:

Hey I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
The name is suppose to tell what the game does, you leap and you jet around with a bear!
Thanks for the wonderful review :D
