Reviews for "One Of You"

This reminds me a lot of Mad Father.

I liked the game and the story is actually kind of interesting and original to me.

Although Scenario B is not as good if you play that one second since you kind of got all spoiled by Scenario A. However, playing Scenario B first leaves Scenario A still a large mystery, so I would recommend locking A until you finish B just to make it more interesting.

*** SPOILER ***

If you do that though, a little hint could be made when you are about to go out of the window on B but decide to go back for the other person, as that doppelganger scene can be incredibly confusing and the player might think on a bug or a mistake (I did B first believing A and B were unrelated; and that was my thought when I reached that point)

Yup, you got me pretty well with this one. A really interesting thriller adventure game in this old fashioned top-down animated style. As I have said before it's really hard to make games in this style or genre as it has already been done many times, but this one really surprised me on the story front, and made me want to keep going for more. The start is a little bit cliché (the hero starts having just been knocked in the head, therefore suffering from bad amnesia and can't remember how he got into the situation), but it builds for a pretty good atmosphere and a surprising ending. The additional choices and scenarios also add extra replayability value. Although a bit short (if you exclude the reading) and simplistic from a gameplay stand point, I still think this is a very solid game, only missing a few niche touches(like an achievement system so you can track your progress, and maybe a possibility to change the key mapping. I have made a let's play of the game over here: https://youtu.be/c2voE8AQvOI . Although long I only got one ending, which does show that the story is quite intriguing... combined with a matching music this is among the best RPG maker games out there. Good luck and make more like these.

i wish there was a scenario where you got to play as the creature, also it was a bit too linear not offering a little freedom of choice

A pretty cool RPG maker game.

I have a few things to suggest to tighten up the logic and the game overall.

#1. I noticed this game takes place in the USA. If that is the case, then please make sure the grammar is also US based. We don't say "mum," spell behavior with a "u", or say "Zed" when we want to say "Z." I see a lot of International game devs make these sorts of mistakes in terms of using the proper vocabulary when setting their game in the United States. The mistake I'm referring to is either back in Scenario A or in the rulebook (trying to remember), the word "behaviour" is seen. It should be "behavior" since this is a US based story.

#2. I like that you have ending scenarios that depend on how we decided to either stay or go, and also if we have certain times or not. But I did notice that in Scenario B, even if you don't pick up the shot gun, the brother never picks it back up when he revives his sister. I think if he did, he would have stood a chance towards defending himself towards any oncoming attack, even if it looked like his sister. Same can be said for Scenario C. I don't understand why we can't call the police or leave the house once we've found the dead bodies. She's a social worker. She works for the local government. Reporting harm is the very first thing they do. Giving people the option to call the police once they see the blood or the bodies would have made this more interesting in terms of exploring endings. Scenarios A and B could have also had an ending where everyone lived. The husband from A could have taken the notes found in the office and the laptop and used the storage room from Scenario B (after it was unlocked) to make the gas. Though, I understand that everyone was in a state of confusion since they couldn't remember who they were or where they were...so that part would pretty much fall flat. I just figured that since people were treading carefully on where they were, that at least finding a new defensive weapon, like the gas, would have helped...especially since the husband ended up remembering why he was there before anyone else.

Anyway, I really liked this effort. I was intrigued up till the very end!

I think this's a really fun, scary game. Kind of reminds me of Ann. I love that there's so many different endings. However, I wish that it didn't glitch so much during the loads, and sometimes when you open a door, everything but the sprites disappear.
