Reviews for "The Heist"

fun, simple and good, really well done

Very well done. Effectively captures the stupidity of the average criminal XD

Quite an amazing first animation.
Keep up the good work.

P.S also maybe add some color? its your choice, not mine

SoraNgin responds:

Thank you very much! I do like the black and white aesthetic of simple cartoons, but a lot of animations I have planned in the future will be colored! :)

next episode: the pub

where he steals the money and then buys everyone a round

SoraNgin responds:

I love it. Take my money!

Sir, the ending sold it! This was a great first effort. Now while in some regards I being the devil's advocate I am could say I am being a bit generous. The art style was very simplistic and a tad minimal. Details are a whore to do in hand drawn animation. That is one way to watch your time evaporate on you trying to go for Classic Disney style work. No spoken words... also minimalist. This was VERY visual. So in a very strong regard this is a borderline "Art-piece." There is is riding the border but it is a story none the less. A naughty twisted and shockingly funny one.

The thing is the art is in the story telling. The way it played out to the end was very seamless. And the details were where they were needed. The look on the store clerk's face at the end and that moment of snapping back into reality was precious! This was a WELL performed WTF moment.

It is said the Devil lies in the details. It is your job as a story teller to assign how to present those details. Art sometimes does not carry an animation and other times it does. Heck, lately Disney has become nothing but well drawn crap bereft of any fresh storytelling or new stories. It is up to the new blood such as yourself to refresh the art.

I would also like to mention this was also a story of Pretzel Logic. A bad situation turns absolutely weird. I like twisted jokes. While it was not what I would call sick or demented it falls in the WRONG WRONG WRONG category. Look, there is satisfaction in a job well done. But there was the radiant strut of Victory, like a boss. That was funny but it set up the end so perfectly. The zen within this effort was uncanny. You took conventional and tossed it off the bridge. I have seen similar jokes very much in the same vein as this over the years but this one had a nice delivery. the multiple visual jokes set up into each other nicely. Oblivious goes to OMG. From OMG comes compliance and fear. And I refuse to issue any spoilers past this.

Way to go and kudos to you! For a first time you shown some Kung-fu. Now you must hone your skills! ->and in the distance a gong has sounded. LOL<-

Very much worth the watch.

SoraNgin responds:

You praise me way too highly! But thank you so much for such a detailed review! :D
