I have to say while great production values this was sort of a 'Meh' to me. The visuals of the delivery of the joke were great. There was no back joke let alone anything to give me that funny or funny HA HA moment.
This was not exactly a lite piece for being a short. The animation itself was great hence the baseline 3 stars. This just lacked raw HA HA. Punching a dog is nothing like a good kick in terms of comedy. Also its funnier when the dog is one of those small yappy POS breeds you want to toss to your eleven foot python because it is an unfriendly little speed bump. On a foot note, if you want to give someone from PETA fits, send them this video or a link to it. Now that would be daring and comedy rolled into one.
I know you crammed a LOT into this. I know you were jabbing at Fight games like Street Fighter and animation of the same genera. But where was the 'B Joke?' I mean the REAL punchline? At minimum you could have included a "Broke a nail" joke or "Oh MY GOD! I GOT SOME OF IT ON ME!" joke or a Plympton style breaking the 4th wall and and having the dog she punched either hit her from behind or some part of the dog hitting her from behind. Now each of these suggestions are in order of hilarity. Like a video game Combos do get bonus points. "Broke a nail" with a "K.O" from behind (the dog hitting her from behind knocking her out) would have been a good combo. Adding a momentary frozen look of surprise with the letters "K.O.!!!" appearing on the screen with her getting impossibly flipped and filling to the ground would have been a Shao Khan HA HA HA from Mortal Combat. Add the finishing move of a hand reaching up, twitching and flopping back down... FLAWLESS VICTORY!
Its like I say, the art sometimes will carry a story and sometimes the art can't do the job. Really it is all in the delivery. This was like masturbation and stopping just short of the happy ending.
A high point is you did keep things simple. You also did follow a cohesive track of action. The violence while appearing random did not come out of the blue. But a detractor is as i said, this built up... and then just didn't make the kill shot. The end just was not funny.
Please don't think I am being a dick. If I wanted to be a dick I would have said no stars at all. I reserve that honor for people who cross certain lines and none of those lines were crossed here. I understand animation takes a LOT of effort and the learning curve also is a huge investment of time. Sometimes an artist just can't get a particular piece right. Other times they will present a masterpiece of talent and skill. This was completed and presented. That alone says a lot. It actually was well drawn.
You invoke the name of Titmouse. Adult Swim no less. Well, lets just say I do appreciate what Titmouse has done on Adult Swim a lot. I cannot see this as a stand alone piece. It is kind of one of those random filler moment type things as far as I can tell. If this just had more to the punch line...
Do not think for a second I am trying to be mean about this. I am judging this by a number of standards and conventions of art. I can see a lot of prowess for animation here in this presentation. I look foreword to seeing more. You don't need to be sick, weird, or gross to do a stunner of an animation. Sometimes you will just get an inspiration and if you can just get that last little bit out of that idea and get it on paper so to speak 5 stars will rain down upon you.

I saw this last night at the SVA Theater. It got a very big reaction, in my opinion. Strong stuff.
Weird but funny also, I liked that the girl had an unique style. Good job ^o^
