Very original, smart, funny an witty game. The whole point is that in this game unlike in most games you must act when there is no danger and you must restrain yourself when there is danger which is very unusual, interesting and challenging.
The graphics are nice, the characters sneaking up from behind are cool, especially the medusa grandma is cool, I am proud I did understand the trick with the medusa and reacted in the right way for first time I saw her, but it was close.
The sounds are very atmospheric, I like the fire cracking and the winds blowing outside and the music is nice and fitting. I like the atmosphere that is created in this game of this comfy wizard's alchemist lab surrounded by vast winter wilderness and dangerous bandits and monsters walking outside trying to take the opportunity and break in.
Unfortunately there are three slight drawbacks to this game trough:
- No fullscreen - means not maximized atmospheric effect.
- The game loads very slow, I almost thought it froze, when it did finally load, and even after that there is a slow frame-rate even on my i7 high end computer.
- No public highscores are being saved.
It's too bad I must remove a halfstar for each one of these technicalities from max score, otherwise the game is great and would deserve 5 stars for uniqueness and beautiful atmosphere. I understand that this is a contest game and is made in a hurry, but it's sad game makers almost never take a little time after contest to tweak up these small imperfections. The world would be richer with nice high quality games if they did.
