Reviews for "DevHood Quest"

the rocks in the musican game is buggy; got stock on them multiple times

Nice game with variety in the minigames.
I had no probem with the work and money part. only bought the extra life and minimum score upgrades, and the satis items in the gen store. Pretty much only bought coffe and cheesbread with food.

I found the artist as the easiest since you deside the speed, there is no timer and probably made it easier in fullscreen.
Music was average, but got easy when i had all the life upgrades.

Only thing i found really hard was the last programmer stage. Goes too fast with too big words.
To me it seems that it goes faster on fullscreen than normal screen. Might be wrong.

But i think you guys made an allright game. Just a shame you didn't have time to balance.
Hope you continue to make more games. : )

Also liked the easter egg with dev watch.

Thank you for being specific about your experience with the game. Coffee and Cheesebread is definitely the way to go, we made the other ones less viable so players have to take care of the characters's health everyday and work consistently.

Yeah the last stage of the programmer's minigame can be a bit rough.

Thank you! We're already working on something else, going mobile now :).

And yeah, we just couldn't leave overwatch out of our game, since on those two weeks of the jam if we weren't developing, we were on Overwatch :P

Excellent game! Challenging, balanced, and for the time frame you had, you all did very well! I have no complaints, only compliments. I also like you tied it all together at the end!

marcosfl responds:

Thank you, brotherbrick! We're really glad you liked it! We were a bit greedy wanting to make this game in two weeks, but we did it!

I like it to a certain degree, I really like having to balance all your needs while still trying to meet the deadline. It is hard to balance everything but I didn't find that overly difficult; the thing I found overly difficult was the mini-games. I feel like the mini-games were just too hard and they made the game fairly un-enjoyable. The Artist's mini-game was waaaay too long for such a hard, time consuming task (I might recommend the lives not sending you to the beginning but instead being able to pick up where you messed up). The Musician's mini-game was pretty good but it was really easy to get hit when it felt like you shouldn't have. And the Programmer's mini-game really wasn't too bad as long as you got the upgrades.
tl;dr
I liked it but the mini-games needed some more work in my opinion

marcosfl responds:

Thank you for your review! Too long, but I did read hahaha. I'm glad you liked balancing the needs, and you're not wrong about the minigames. We didn't have much time to test it out with people that were outside the project. I, the coder, have probably played each level of each minigame at least five times to the point they became pretty easy to me without upgrades. The mistake here was that we should have tested them out with other people and balanced them better. Noted!

It's a great game in concept, but balancing everything is nearly impossible. I was broke with a sick worker by day three and work barely brought in enough money to feed all characters once, much less feed the sick person enough to get him healthy as well. The game is also in such low quality that I can't read any conversations or see the actual numbers next to the bars for each person's well-being

marcosfl responds:

Thank you so much for the detailed and honest feedback. You're not wrong, the game truly has balancing problems. It was made in two weeks for a game jam and due to the excitement of wanting to develop it we forgot the time we'd need to spend on balancing. "Balancing" was done a few hours before the end of submissions, so it definitely has issues. We won't do that again, we knew how big the game would get, it was a bit foolish of us to not reduce it a bit so we could balance it better. About the low quality, we probably should have chosen a better font and cared more for the resizing of images. I'll remember that! Thanks again!
