Reviews for "For A Small World This Place Sure Has Big Problems [LD38]"

I dooo like!
There is a lot of good stuff going on here.
I have no idea how your wrote it in about 3 hours though. There's an inhuman amount of perfection here for that amount of time! Everything from the mix and the arrangement to the melodies and unique aspects of the piece are beyond on point. This is the kinda johnfm everyone has come to love :D

johnfn responds:

Thanks LSD, I really appreciate it! Seriously.

Was gonna call you out on the genre but it looks like you took care of that for me in the authors description. Thanks I guess.

Those pitch bent melodies are super fly. The organic sound of simple drum samples gives this track a funk vibe. Turns out electro-funk is a genre. Gank that genre John. Funk is totally an option :D :D :D

johnfn responds:

Heheh. To be honest when I write music I don't think about genres at all. And then NG asks me for a genre and I don't know what to say. WHAT POSTMODERN ARCHITECTURAL STYLE WERE YOU CONTEMPLATING WHEN YOU WROTE THAT SONG? BETTER THINK HARD BECAUSE IF YOU CHOOSE WRONG 100 PEOPLE ARE GONNA SAY THAT A DIFFERENT POSTMODERN ARCHITECTURAL STYLE FITS SLIGHTLY BETTER

I'm glad you like it tho!

Lol genres indeed. This sounds like either dance or jazz. Aside from the genres, this is pretty catchy, and loops well.

johnfn responds:

i kill 1 hostage every time someone mentions genres from here on out

THEIR LIVES ARE ON YOU

I like the spacey intro and synths. Reminded me instantly of "Charge." I like the furtive vibe the melody had, probably because of the panning. Really set you up for a huge climax later in the piece, though. The jazzy pads at :49 were a nice touch. I thought that vox-sounding synth at 1:20 was a little too loud relative to the melody, but I liked the way you filtered it at around 1:50. I'm not sure that huge climax I was looking for ever came, but I like the glitchy stuff you have going on at around the 3-minute mark. It was a nice touch. This is a catchy piece. It loops really smoothly, too. I think you finally found a way of avoiding having awkward cutoff endings. ;D Seriously though, great work. Keep it up, Johnfn!

Ahhh extremely well done!

The melodies have a nice neutral tone while still being catchy. But the way you produced and structured the track created a mood that is incredibly well captured.

Well done again! :3
