A good idea to maybe implement is security keys. There has been a rise in companies using them and they are very effective. Heck even more effective than using a authenticator app in both terms of security and speed.

Of course there are downsides such as you can lose them and stuff but I suggest looking into them and seeing if it might be possible to integrate it with security on newgrounds accounts!

I don't know if this could cause problems, but I wonder if making the website force users to re-enter their password ever few days or even every week could help prevent people from hacking-in as often.

Would it be annoying? for sure, but you also don't forget your password as easily by doing that, and it might keep hackers on their toes since they may not be able to completely compromise your account depending on how they hacked into it.

Got the idea from how bank-account will auto-logout after about 5-10 min of inactivity to prevent strangers from playing around with your bank-account in public.

Just a bit of food for thought. Not even sure if it's as secure as I think it is.

Whoever did this (I think it's hacker who hacked accounts) belongs to jail for Eternity, because it's gone way too far.

That is helpful if other people might have access to your device, however if someone has guessed or obtained your password, that won't prevent them from logging in. It's why 2FA is so necessary nowadays.

Yeah, while I do use 2FA, this most recent incident has reminded me I gotta update my passwords. Definitely thinking about using hardware based security too now, so Newgrounds adopting something like the YubiKey would be great for the future.

I noticed a lot of the accounts were inactive ones, some even dating back to the 2000s, so a part of me hopes the hacked accounts can (in some way) be restored to their original state with enhanced security too. Sucks to see pieces of Newgrounds history potentially lost because the accounts were compromised. Already had to remove an animation from my MLP collection because I'd rather not look at the gory thumbnail the animation in question got replaced with during the incident.

Same here, but last week I got my Steam hacked but I managed to get access before any further damage. Be careful out there, you can never be too safe.

Probably because 70% of the people on Newgrounds have the source files to FNF.
