Reviews for "Orc Siege"

Good but not Great

Eventhough it is old it is still a good game 8/10

Great Game

I really like this game. I liked the graphical style. Not every game has to be super CGI quality graphics. The music, although looped over and over again was easy on the ears. Was that an actual real guitar or just computerized? The game is not too long which can be looked at as bad or good and a lot of animation even if just moving back and forth in the frame or panning a larger picture. I liked the violence, not over the top, but you get the picture of what it would be like to be on that battlefield.

But there are some problems I had with this game.

The descriptions for skills were not that great. It says it does this or that, yet when I play the game I rarely see a change in the dice rolls or how hard I actually hit or get hit. The only skill I even bother with now is the Water Spirit, because you are guaranteed 9-10 points of health every two-four rounds of a fight. I suppose if I stuck with the game perhaps I would learn to use the other skills, but I should not have to learn exactly how to use them, to perfect them maybe, but the descriptions could have been better.

My biggest complaint about the skills is that you actually have to wait a few rounds for them to even be activated even though I just learned them. Also if I retreat, because I was low on health, was beaten or because I simply chose to go back, my skills should automatically be filled and ready to use for the next fight. Also they were still there on the buy screen after you bought it and came back. They should not still be there if already bought or at least have them dimmed.

Also the Water Spirit skill I used even though I had full health. That should not have happened so I wasted it for the next couple of rounds. And especially on Medium and Hard there is no way to gain all or even half the skills, upgrades and attacks. And you really do need them.

The Beer. I was never sure how much was actually in the barrel. I mean I have seen it when I only had one drink or when I had three. I never understood how or what affected it and I would always refill even if I never used any, just in case.

The equipment. You only get them when either defeating the Goblin leader or when you go back to town. There have been times when I would receive Goblin armor and at others, especially on Hard I would not. I played a perfect game the first time through the Goblins, did not lose a match. Yet when I get to where the goblin leader picture is at, the goblins run off. WTF!?! So now I go with out armor. Not only do I start with less EXP and health and the enemies are harder, but now it takes potential armor away. I would even keep fighting the goblins just to see if I could get the armor, but they always run!

The starting tutorial that is done in voice sounds horrible, no offense. I know you meant well, but the mic was either a bad one or you were speaking incorrectly into it. It made it feel very unprofessional. And do not get me wrong, I am not talking about the accent.

The game was short if you know what you are doing. Perhaps you could add a troll scenario as well or some thing.

I liked the Hyena-men on the Orcs side, but the goblins just had Goblins with a different hair color. You could have added knolls for the goblins Also the back grounds in the fighter portraits were just the same thing over and over again. With so much animation in it and good pans of the fights before the fights, I would have liked to have seen back ground fighting of humans vs what ever or fallen soldiers or some thing.

But in saying all that the game was still rather good. I think it holds up well even for today's standards, as long as what I mentioned is fixed. I liked the in game sounds and voices... or laughing and grunting I guess. You actually get to see who you are commercing with and it makes it feel more real. And being able to look at the cleavage of the bar maid was a plus! Hahaha. On Medium you actually see her stripping at the end... makes me wonder what you get for finishing on Hard... Maybe one more try on Hard...

Wow

Graphics aren't the best but the game simply is a masterpiece.

Well............

even if it was made 5 years ago, it still could use work. The graphics are pretty lame and the game itself is too easy. I like it but it still needs work, and to everyone who's whining about how bad it sucks NOW it didn't in 2005, quit crying and how about you try to make something, I know I can't.

I couldn't do it any better

But I suck at creating games, so it still gets a 3/10 xD
