Reviews for "World of Pain RPG: C3"

Eh... Ok.

A couple of good things:
%u2022 Depth of play is decent. There are a lot of levels, equipment and so on.
%u2022 Pretty simple interface.
%u2022 Graphics are fairly good. Not "Wow!" but nice.

Now for the not-so-good stuff.
%u2022 The music is annoying after the first five seconds.
%u2022 The quest log does not tell you where you really have to go (what person do you need to turn the quest into), so you can fill up your log with a lot of quests you can't figure out where or how to complete. You should be able to pop open a window to see who gave you the quest, who you need to turn it in to, and so on.
%u2022 Magic seems very, very feeble compared to the simpler combat options, such as getting a nice sword. Other than "heal," I didn't use magic much at all.
%u2022 A heck of a lot of "grinding" is necessary to level your character. Always good for chewing up hours, but also gets annoying.

For all that is wrong with the game, there's definitely some good basic game play here. I gave it 6 of 10. Fix the music, and make the quest log more friendly, and you can get to 8 of 10 easily.

If you're gonna use RPGmaker graphics and music...

Make the game in RPG maker. You'll be able to do a lot more and with a lot more ease than in flash. Using RPG maker materials for an RPG in Flash is like trying to make a car out of the parts for a bus; it might work, but it won't be as good, at all.

Why?

I like the game.. but one.. lvling is too slow It took me like 1600 steps just to find 10 theives. AND WHY... DOES HE WALK SO SLOW!

Ah RPG Maker.

How I love thee.
It's a good game.
Good job.

Its cool

Well I guess I'll start with the bad, the dialogue was laughably lazy. I literally laughed out loud when I talked to this ox guy at the start of the game "Hey man come see me in my cabin I'll give you some tasks" or something like that.

The classes could have used more balance as well, I've seen rpg games like this time and time again where there are a ton of classes but some are just slightly different versions of another class in the game with a different name, I.E. Rogue, thief. White mage, Healer. I can't say I was fond of the combat system, the old dragon warrior style battles went out of style in the nes days, I would have liked to have seen some battle sprites and more turn based combat, real time works in some games like the famouse chrono trigger but not so much here, and it was a bit odd that a rogue started with ice magic.

Despite the short comings of this game and the fact that attacks seemed to fail way too often it had a certain charm to it that reminded me of the snes rpg games of my childhood, I quite enjoyed the music as well. If the battle system were cleaned up a bit this game would be a winner by my standards.
