It's almost great
I'm very impressed by some aspects of this game. The graphics were terrific, though I assume you ripped them off from something? There was a lot of content, a lot of items and a lot of monsters. Also, it lasted for quite a long time.
Here's what I didn't like:
Why did you spend so much time giving totally useless NPCs dialog like "Mommy works here" but not spend more time on dialog that actually develops the story line? Despite the number of quests you have to perform and the linear fashion of the game, there was pretty much no plot at all. It feels like you had a plot in mind but need to provide more exposition through dialog.
The battle system was pretty annoying due to the extreme variations in damage that result from the same attacks. I've seen the same spell deal anywhere from 20 to 20000 damage. You should calculate damage as a normal distribution with a reasonable spread, say +-5% of the mean.
The game was pretty imbalanced. Playing as black mage made the game extremely simple - I never used a single mana potion or rested at an inn - I always got the free health/mana refill from leveling up. This is because you only increase the amount of experience needed to level by a constant 1000 for every level, whereas the character's strength increases exponentially it seemed. At some point after level 30 the game became too simple.
The music selection seemed to be independent of the kind of map you're in. Sometimes dungeon-sounding music would play in towns and vice versa.
In conclusion, it's a good game, but can be a lot better with some polishing. I applaud the amount of work you put into it.
