Enjoyable
It's been a while since I was preoccupied with games. While I wish the game would be longer with more bosses, it was enjoyable nontheless. I really liked how I got some benefits from the previous game session after I died. That kept me playing more and more because I knew I'd start out better on the next round.
The music is very much suitable for the game, especially for the final boss.
While I would've loved to purchase every single upgrades, I think the limited space kept the players from becoming overpowered which was fair.
Still, I can't help but to feel that it's lacking something that would make this game a masterpiece...not too sure what that is exactly. If you're ever doing a sequel, perhaps you could add more monsters, enemy ships, variety of upgrades and bosses?
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Room for improvement
...Mostly in the upgrade system. The ship upgrade made the game more dull than it should have been.
It wouldn't have hurt the levels to LOOK different either.
And a "continue" button (even if it reset your gold/score) would have been nice, I wanted to play for fun not for points.
