The game is just....cool! It's a lot of fun, everyone can get into it, and it leaves a lasting impression. Sheer style of design won me, here. Can be beaten in about 10-15 minutes, and still feels meaty.
Okay...well, it plays like a card game more than anything. I enjoyed it, although there was some tedium found in a lack of great difficulty scaling. The game was easy enough, but also really fun.
I don't think I would go back to replay it again with a different class, and I suspect that a few folks will be disappointed that this isn't an Action game. However, this is a game for everyone. Everyone can get it, everyone can beat it. I love that! The variety of playable characters means you can find one you like.
There were small things here or there, I would have really liked to see more enemies. I did not understand why there were so few (6?), while there were nearly four times as many playable characters.
The storyline was sort of trite...it's conclusion felt somewhat rushed. Many times I found myself wishing that more complex algorithms were written for the randomized math. It's not balanced.
Nearly half of my tower, if not most, was consumed by the shop-keeper, who was usually selling things I couldn't afford. The Veteran I ran into twice in a row....and the shop-keep several times. With 300 floors, I never found myself with more than 40 gold.
i'm sort of intimidated doing this style of review for these Authors, but it's a full-featured game, so I'll have to.
out of 10....
gfx - 8 (great style, original designs)
sfx - 9 (awesome tracks, good sfx)
design - 7.5 (a few strange choices)
gameplay - 7.0 (inconsistent, but fun)
overall, this is a great game that hits a lot of good points. it has its' flaws, but I think a sequel would be great. More interactivity, better math, and a greater diversity in the design would be great. Gameplay is simple, and doesn't need to be elaborated on...really this game just needs tighter math, more enemies, and a stronger ending.
Other than, a great 15 minutes of fun!
