Reviews for "The Enchanted Cave 2"

I'd rant about the lack of a realy story or immersion, but old school style game gets judged as an old school style game. Aside from that, the main reason it can't get five or four stars? This should've been harder. I haven't finished the game yet, but I have played up to level 75 or so. The game prior to the second run through, is fairly difficult and I had to think a bit before moving. After that first time, where I reached around level 10, I was able to get all the way to level 45, stopping only because I wanted to go get lunch. The game gets ridiculously easy, especially if you invest in either HP/MP Regen enchantments (kinda broken) or HP/MP Restoration (potions are very easy to come across and/or make). The interface was also very bad in organization of ingredients. It was pretty annoying shuffling through all that crap just to find something with a desired effect. Maybe next time organize them according to the effect?

On the plus side, the game is quite engrossing, if repetitive (of course a lot of games are actually very tedious in their core but thats a whole other discussion). It's very straightforward, which is a pro and con at the same time. Decent time killer though. Worth playing.

This is a really good game, I can't stop playing! It's very well designed artistically with it's retro look. I enjoy the randomly generated maps as well as how the game progresses in difficulty. I'm looking forward to another squeal

Great game but just as a heads up: dont put yourself in a situation where you could die, however small the odds might be. I died at floor 48 and it set me back to when I hadnt even reached floor 40.

Okay, I'm going to come right out and say it. I found nothing wrong with the first TEC, and I find nothing wrong with it's sequel but the balance. You put a great spin on an already great game, and I literally find nothing wrong with it but the balance, which does not warrant any lowering of stars. The one thing wrong with the balance is that if you go all the way in one stat/class, you are untouchable. Only upgrade attack based things? You kill everything before it touches you. Only upgrade HP based things? You take a long time killing things, but you can't be defeated. Only upgrade defense? 0 damage all around! My real point here is, if you go indefinitely into something like attack (which I did) it breaks the game balance.

I Just stacked up pure EXP (Went pure fighter) and did nothing but grind till level 50 and flew by the rest of the floors.
Once you hit Floor 70 just keep on grinding. Change up your gear to Crit% / Dodge% / Insta-kill / Decimate. Use some of the Ninja gear for the Insta-kill and Dodge% and use Heart of darkness to give your gears Decimate. The Sword Striker helps out big time with it's 15% Critical hit chance.

By this point of the game you should have your melee fully learned and Magic completed or close to completion. The Crit% and all effect your magic. (Yes Magic attacks can crit and can also Insta-kill.)
I Find myself loving this game even though it was only a couple hours long (The full Version isn't much longer.)

I'm giving this a 5/5 because of the old school game play and the game is a reminder of Sword Art Online.
