Ridiculous side-scrolling fun!

squidly responds:

Thanks!

I really like the overall art style and random generating levels, I also really liked that the enemies followed you if you don't kill them.

However i felt the controls were a little clunky (holding down and then jump produced a roll, but if you did not release and re-press down before you pressed jump again it would produce a jump) and I didn't love the physics.

Sweet. It definitely captures a lot of the best elements of NES platformers, I liked Mr Octopus' shop even if I couldn't afford anything, and I always love seeing how good indie devs can make simple graphics work very well. On the downside, I felt the controls didn't always work as smoothly as they could and I died when my character felt the need to wander off to the right of his own accord. Definitely an enjoyable game- controller support would be cool if you're planning updates.

squidly responds:

Yea controller support is in the works, the issue is this game works a lot less well with an analogue stick than you'd think. Dpad, however, works perfectly.

This is so hard but yet so fun! :)

A nice little way to kill a few minutes. I especially liked how bottomless pits are handled. On level 1, you die on the spot, rather than to tease a player, while on later levels you start the level over with one HP less, rather than to frustrate a player.

All items are priced at 500 Cu. I'm not sure this is wise, as some are worth more than others, such as the heart container and the magnet. The rest I'm not sure I want to waste the same amount of money on.

The music is catchy and yummy.

The boss is either easy or impossible, depending on approach and/or power-ups. I don't know what to make of that.

The sloping floors are slippery going down; it's hard to maintain traction for a good jump.
