Reviews for "'DinoMelt'"

Mostly pretty good. Cute style fairly well designed for the most part, decent sized

Issues:

Most of the power-up seem _too_ well hidden. The average player doesn't seem likely to get many upgrades

Would be nice to be able to remap controls (keyboards work better with jump mapped to up)

Third boss not giving a new ability is disappointing

The difficulty spike at the end is _brutal_. I'm pretty certain the final boss can throw out impossible attack combinations. And there's no checkpoints...

Butzbo responds:

Thanks Hylarn! Also, great to know you got far enough, I'm considering all the feedback I can get for a potentially larger version: The 3rd boss, Control-mapping and difficulty issues are things I'll be certainly upgrading for that, so it's pretty helpful to know the players experience.

It is sooo cute. I am so ecited how it would end.

Woah, thanks Almond!, It's amazing to see a first playthrough of the game! :)
good job enduring the first boss battle too!!

After 2:46:46, I can finally say that I goddamn love this game.
Seriously. It starts off slow, both metaphorically and quite literally, but the creativity, the half-serious nature of everything, and just the spirit of adventure that's so beautifully inspired by Mario and Metroid and Zelda (did Metroid have those boss-introduction-caption things?) really makes this game shine. I was not at all disappointed when I finally managed to 100% this game. Just maybe a little frustrated at times.

But seriously, ten outta ten. Well done.

Butzbo responds:

Thanks a lot for the review!, I'd say this game takes a lot from those games you mention (especially their Super Nintendo editions), I recall seeing the "boss-captions" on a later Metroid game, but I always associate them to Ocarina of Time; in any case, I couldn't help but include them in the game, it's a fun layer of memorability.
Also, great job being among the firsts to 100% it! :D

This game is so well made. Loved everything. The level design is great, the monsters creative, and the last boss can really screw you up with his ramdom fire balls.

You've created a neat little mini Metroid! Absolutely worth the wait!

If you ever do art for a paid project, I'll probably throw money at it just because you were involved.

Butzbo responds:

Thanks JR!, and good work beating it! :D
