Reviews for "Running VoltGun"

Some complaints:

There are numerous glitches in temper gadget. Scene one: there's one flame pit where you don't take damage when walking into it. Scene two: the destructible blocks can't be wall jumped off of, which makes the lava pit section of the stage really hard to do.

I would love to see this on a console as a bigger indy title. Maybe on the switch or the 3DS. Maybe for all platforms or steam. You got something going here man.

Didn't Like It

The look of this game is absolutely beautiful. If Mega Man X and Sonic the Hedgehog had a baby it would look like this game. The music even matches that aspect beautifully along with the sound effects. However that's about all the positives I could say about this game. The controls are what killed it for me. I tried each control figuration and I still could not get a decent grasp of them. Then there is that barrier of bricks that you have to shoot through which is just tedious as all hell. What's wrong with the classic WASD control style? Move and jump with the arrow keys, shoot with S, dash with D, power toggle with W, and aim up with A. The controls did not make it fun to play which is a shame because this looks like a great idea for a game. Mega Man on a strict time limit.

I started to play the game I instantly had 5 stars on my mind. I have a soft spot for these shooting-platforming hard motherfuckers, and this is a fine example of such a game. But controls need some work as they do not respond well at certain spots where you need them. But that is minor stuff. The big issue is the weapon downgrading after I die. That made the level where the lava rises and decends nearly impossible to pass with all the enemies you have to beat, and beeing pressed for time. There is a fine line between difficult and unfair and this game crossed it at the mentioned point. I apsolutely loved it up to that.

I pressed that Follow button though, since I am very interested to see what you can do given the time. All in all, very good work. Cheers!

It's extremely common to lose your current weapon when you die. If you also read the description you can toggle the power mode of your gun to high or low.

Totally not confusing controls. definitely.
