I notice two of my cover songs have been removed. However, I would like to point out that as far as I am aware, the stacking girl video on youtube has no audio copyright in place. This is where I took my sample from, and NOT from the original song!

Sorry, I mixed you up with another guy. My main source of information is Geometry dash, and people sometimes switch song without updating the song link. What I heard (and therefore believed was from your channel) was a crappy skrillex remix. That I didn't double check is my fault; I was lazy.

That's Deadlocked by F-777. PoProbably reuploaded as a new song to go around the block in Geometry dash. (The game creator blocked it because he wwants to use it for an official level.)

Is there a way to ban songs "extra hard"? I've noticed that the banned songs are still downloadable in Geometry Dash. That kinda ruins the point a bit; if there are no consequences, why should they stop?

If a user is not scouted, then the song shouldn't be downloadable by Geometry Dash. Try it - go to the unscouted section of the Audio Portal and try downloading something. It won't let you. If we ban someone who happens to be scouted (which is unlikely since if they're posting rule-breaking submissions then they're probably not scouted in the first place), then it automatically unscouts them.

Keep in mind, however, that with the way Geometry Dash works, all you need to do is download a song once in-game. For instance, let's say a custom GD level uses Song X. You download Song X through the game and play the level. Later on, we find out that Song X breaks the rules, so we unpublish it and ban the uploader. You've already downloaded Song X to your device, so you can continue replaying the level with Song X playing just fine, but new users who hadn't downloaded Song X before it was taken down shouldn't be able to download it. I think that's how it works.

I went through his profile and found some remixes that weren't his, and some songs using copyrighted samples, but I'm also finding some apparently legitimate stuff. Can you go through the songs there are on his profile right now and tell me which ones you think are stolen?

Yeah it isn't the same guy. This is the second time someone on here stole that very track. Plus, the person who uploaded it admitted that it isn't his in a response to a review he got, and that he (surprise surprise) only uploaded it to use in Geometry Dash.

I gave a quick listen to all of his uploads, and unless you already deleted some of them, I don't actually see anything that I would have reported. I guess that's an oopsie on my part. Not sure what I heard that made me want to put him on my wall of shame.

I went ahead and deleted the ones which broke the rules, yeah. I just assumed that if you list his whole account in your post then every submission in his account is illegitimate, and I was having trouble finding anything that broke the rules in most of his uploads. Anyway, I think his account is clean now!

I messaged him about it, and he did. Seems to be another case of people just plain not reading the rules. He asked about midi-rips as well. Suppose if it isn't one type of infringement, it's another. I'll keep an eye on this one.

Basically, Geometry Dash is a popular rhythm-based platformer game similar to The Impossible Game where levels are made to match the music. Before, there used to be only around a dozen tracks chosen by the developer (one of which, incidentally, happens to be a song of my own) to have levels made for them in the game. There was one official level for each track and a custom level editor to make your own out of the aforementioned dozen tracks or so.

A few months ago the developer opened the level editor up to the whole of the Newgrounds Audio Portal. Anyone can make a custom level with any Audio Portal song, as long as they type its Audio Portal ID down in the custom level editor. The level can then be uploaded for other Geometry Dash players to play them, and whenever a new player plays it, the game downloads its Audio Portal song (which explains why some tracks on here have far more downloads than they have views).

This is fine and all, but the problem arose when people decided to make a Newgrounds account and upload their favourite songs so that they can make Geometry Dash levels out of them, even if the songs aren't theirs, so now we have potentially dozens of tracks daily that aren't original because people try to make Geometry Dash levels out of them.

A "remix" of this. After having listened to the original and his remix a couple times, it sounds like he just chopped the original audio and looped parts of the drop and breaks, not really adding anything original from what I can tell.
