Reviews for "Deal With the Devil"

Every turn I went through ended in Damnation.

....yet I'm okay with it....

won on first go,

But i was about to lose on the last go.

Im sure i wouldn't win again, if i played it again.

Matzerath responds:

I'm sure you'll win again!

Definitely fun and has a great atmosphere... but I've played about fifteen or twenty games and lost literally every single one. It's virtually impossible to win in this game. At the very least, there needs to be some kind of a pattern, either in the Deals or in the distributions. If you leave it as is, almost no one will ever see the good ending. So few have already.

I'm not saying make it easy or give us an instant win button. I'm saying to include a pattern of some kind. Don't tell us what it is and make it REALLY subtle. Or complex (but not arbitrary or asinine, there should still be a logic to it).

Also, I get the feeling that the Devil shifts around the Divine Intervention buttons because I almost never get them, even when I have a decent chance of winning the round. It seems I have a better chance of getting Devil's Wrath than anything else.

Won on my first try? Was this meant to be difficult?

Matzerath responds:

Curses!

Fairly interesting, but the probabilities are way too difficult. Based on the medals given out I estimated that the probability of winning in about 1:200. So the average player would have to play around 140 games before winning and about a quarter of players would have to play it 280 times to see what happens when you win.

So although I'm mildly curious what it does on the winning screen, I just don't think it's worth the tedium to get there.
