Reviews for "Create the Police State"

I hate to be that person, but I got the hardcore ending on my first try, without trying too hard. The most difficult part was keeping the people happy, but utilizing the "cultural exchange" in Diplomacy was enough for it to not be an issue at the end. I barely touched the taxes.

I realized that the budget wasn't going to be an issue as I continued, so I stopped worrying about things that increased my expenses past the second year or so. Also, I worked on getting the power plant and total brainwashing as soon as I could, along with constantly being at war with the Island States.

I also did not build the labor camps until almost the very last step. I had a good system going using the Diplomacy tab, so I didn't want to ruin it.

Maybe I just got lucky, so take my advice with a grain of salt :).

Your English needs fixing, and there seems to be no way getting the hardcore badge without heavy tax cutting. Otherwise, it is good.

Thank you for the feedback! :)
I'll try to make the second part better (and without grammar mistakes)!

Just a heads up, you can lower taxes even with no budget, and the happiness loss from the last law you apply doesn't count towards the hardcore ending. Just spend the first months investing in everything but the nuclear plant, then start your cult of personality, declare war on the island state, nationalize everything, buy the plant, get the four policies required for the secondary propaganda bills, and implement both of those. To finish, grab the policies that cost budget(the ones that increase 'expenses' can be done whenever), and keep happiness up with tax cuts as you implement the remaining policies, making sure to max it out right before implementing the last one.

Here's a screenshot of the hardcore ending, for those curious: i.snag.gy / NoFB23.jpg

How to get Hardcore ending? If happiness or population ends the game? also putting all laws aswell. I am guessing there is a law you should not put.

IlyaKrivenko responds:

Thank you for your feedback! That's why it's called the "Hardcore" ending :)
It's possible but very difficult.

Kinda neat.

Despite being essentially a micromanagment game, this one has a somewhat interesting idea behind it. Many of the concepts and ideas are relatable in the context of an authoritarian regime (being russian myself, all of the policies make sense to me and don't pull punches at something both in Soviet and modern Russia, which is welcome). The art is somewhat rushed though, and some elements do have little relevance (like labor camps, and I still don't get the influence of education for example. Maybe it takes less impact on happiness while adopting policies?), not to mention "State 1 and State 2" taking you out of immersion a small bit. The inclusions of random events and different endings are very nice touches.

Balancing... my kinda cheap strategy for this game involved taking nationalization ASAP, then building a plant, then improving happiness by just lowering taxes while making policies (making sure to get gestapo last, since safety's somewhat obsolete if you take a warless route. Man that one takes a hit on your happiness). It's RIDICULOUSLY hard to keep your happiness intact. The only reliable way is by lowering taxes, because the gain by foreign relations is too small to be worth it. I wish your budges played a more significant role in your regime, and wasn't important just for the plant and for a few policies).

While i appreciate the diversity of the elements, policies and routes to approach the game, it still needs at least some balancing to make wars more viable and your budget more worthwhile. 4/5, 7/10.

Кароч, клепай ещё, ждём вторую часть.

That's a very detailed review! Thank you!
I will definitely consider all your recommendations and suggestions, they will help me to make the second part better!
