Very good game. The idea, although cynical, is funny. The gameplay is simple and his mecanics intuitive.
I'm just surprised you include "Anti-gay laws" among the laws caracterising a police state : it doesn't increase the power of the state upon the country, it's "just" oppression against gay people... So I don't think it should be here.

Yes, maybe I need to reconsider this stuff in the second part of the game. It's doesn't fit with other laws.
Enjoyed it! Reducing taxes was a little bit too overpowered, won the game on the first try. In my opinion, taxes should start at a certain amount and cannot be reduced below 0. I agree with others here that there should be multiple endings. Overall a great game, looking forward to your future works!
It's a little too easy. All you have to do is start a war on the Island State on the first month, then keep increasing your income until you can afford to repeatedly cut your taxes to keep people happy. Then all the laws become easy to enact.

Even though it looks simple, it took me 6 tries to complete. If you could, please make a game like this, but with different ideologies like a Create the Communist State, or a Fascist state.
