Reviews for "Land of Enki 2"

Very fun. The attacking mechanics were smooth and enjoyable, particularly the "down air" attack. Ijust used it at any chance I got. Although I'm curious as to why it wasn't explicitly mentioned, as I only found the move out by chance.

The boss fights were great - they came unexpectedly and had nice twists to them.

I like the dynamic within levels where a player could choose to aim for the secret, at a cost of difficulty. Secrets are nicely placed as well (the crumble in the wall is a great, since there are some times where I actually missed some). One comment is that it was annoying to try and blow up crumbled blocks that were placed horizontally or underground, since you had to gauge the range of the bomb.

I'd like if you were able to use a bomb while in air, just to provide more options and control to the player.

I like how dying from mising a jump only loses you some HP, rather than conventional games where the player would have to restart the level.

All in all, I see a lot of the mechanics are inspired from classic games, yet the game itself has its own twist and mechanics which makes it its own entity. Great job on this one :D.

Ah, the elusive downwards thrust? :P It's in part because it's an overpowered attack, but it was too fun to mess around with to take out, haha.

Very glad you liked it :)

Great game!!! I loved the first one... and I love the second installment as well!
There's only a little problem: there seems to be a little delay between the pressing of the keyboard and the action... this makes the game extremely difficult, at certain points (mostly when you need to execute jumps in sequence)... also, the character is not very responsible to the controls: when I press a directional key, sometimes Kon doesn't seem to notice that, and doesn't turn. Other times, he turns, but in doing so he takes one or two steps in that direction (and this causes problems when dealing with enemies or when standing on a one-tile platform). But I see I'm the only one with these problems... I use Firefox, maybe is its fault?
Great game again, btw!!

TheEnkian responds:

Hmm, I haven't experienced this myself so it could be an issue on your end. I can't say for certain though. If you get the chance, give it a shot on another browser :) Thanks for checking both of the games out!

Really good game. I can see all the effort put into it. I love the character designs and the music, the levels were very pretty (the block platforms have a certain appeal), mechanics are simple but fun, and the bosses were all very cool.

Negative points about it, I think it was a bit too easy. The levels are a bit too big for the amount of action going on. I think zooming in a little closer, or maybe adding a few more decorative background elements would help fill up all the empty space. That one level where you just talk to the boss tree guy was sort of weird because you still complete it like a regular level despite not having done anything. Moving around on the map becomes weird when you reverse direction (from the initial eastward direction to the northwestward direction later on), but still retain the same arrow.. erm, movement. Also, it's a bit hard to fall through the one-block holes.

A lot of those complaints were kind of nitpicky, sorry! But overall, fun game!

TheEnkian responds:

Don't worry about being nitpicky, all feedback is important. Glad you enjoyed it for the most part! Yeah, the village and elder's sanctuary are really just for story purposes. In the first game we had the story told through a wall of text at the start and at the end so I thought it would be best to try and incorporate it through cut scenes and we ended up making mini-levels out of it.

I give it a 5/5! Awesome work on the game play. Love the sweet retro graphics, other might say it's cheap but I find games like this to be cool. Like how it's easy to earn money and hearts so you don't die so easily. Overall nice job on the whole game. Keep up the good work!

TheEnkian responds:

You're too kind :) Will do!

Excellent game! Great graphics and good sound. very fun to play!

TheEnkian responds:

Thank you!
