Reviews for "Land of Enki 2"

I wish I could rate this higher, but I can't, simply because you left too much out. For starters, who are you? How did you get on the island? What do potions do? Literally nothing is explained! I feel like you have a decent amount of lore on paper, but you never put it into the game. The enemies are just goombas and a tall goomba that take more hits, and the bosses bore me, the prime example being the first, who just stands there and throws spears in set directions, rather than at you. But your character is one of my main problems, he's slow, his jump arc is too stiff, and his animations make him look like a robot.

I feel like there's potential here as a Zelda-inspired action platformer, but it's unfinished and boring, please, if you make a third game, make the character better in pretty much every way, explain what's happening, and give the enemies variety, I see potential here, but you just didn't bother to put everything in and we get a half-baked mess of a game.

nice gamee... I Pass 100% Bi7che2s!!! XD

TheEnkian responds:

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

I couldnt bind keys for an azerty keyboard which was a bit annoying, u are ignoring a part of the newgrounds players. Also storywise, u could have done an opening to get some gamers hooked, no dialogue with zelda looking trents is gonna make up for that. Last but not least, explain the potion uses because its kinda lame to just blow ur "diamonds" into them without even knowing what they are for... i didnt enjoy this game sorry

TheEnkian responds:

The potions are explained at the first shop, you just didn't read it clearly.

There's so much wrong with this game I have difficulty deciding where to start.

I'm currently stuck in Burizard's Lair, and there are two major problems there. The purple potions are used automatically when the health gets too low. I want to save them for the boss and I'd rather die and start the level again than use up all my purple potions and buy them again.

Maybe you could add an option to toggle the automatic potion use on and off, because in the boss fights I'd like the game to use them automatically.

The other thing wrong is the grey cloud. It's almost impossible to dodge the bullets, and it just drains away all my health. There are places where you can't move (for example opening a chest), and therefore you can't avoid the bullets. Then you have no health left for the boss. And even when you're not opening a chest or stuck in one place for some other reason, it's still almost impossible to dodge the bullets, because the level design doesn't leave too much space to move around. And the cloud is invincible. Even worse.

I also encountered some kind of a bug. When I was trying to beat Burizard's Lair, at some moment it reverted back to the weakest sword and it took double the hits to kill all the enemies, and that made the level even harder.

But overall the game has potential to be a good game. First time I played the game it seemed like crap, but while the gameplay isn't the best out there, the game becomes surprisingly addicting over time. Just too many problems in the way :)

Although the level design seems pretty random. Maybe some work on that...

TheEnkian responds:

An automatic potion on/off option could be a good idea. We presumed that people would rather have the potions as a life "extender" so to speak rather than dying because they forgot to use it.

The clouds are quite easy to dodgy, just avoid standing underneath them and keep on the move. They never sink too low so they're always avoidable by outrunning them as they're naturally quite slow. The sword issue is likely because you accidentally pressed the '1' key. You don't need to be paused to switch items.

Glad you got some enjoyment out it anyway, all the best :)

a nice experience, solid gameplay, nice difficulty increasing, in the world 2 and later some new think appear, it miss some stuff completing the level or the experience for being a really good game, cause i was feeling some repetitions. And i like the chess hunting. I think the next game can really be good !

TheEnkian responds:

If we do another, we'll have it be a little more combat-centric. The graphics would be completely overhauled as well as enemies with different functions so they're more of a challenge rather than mostly patrolling back and forth.
