Reviews for "Ender Story: Chapter 1"

just wondering if there is a walk through or something that barrel in the cave is bugging me. Otherwise i would like to see a "compare to current equipment" in the shops as it is a little frustrating to switch between inventory and shop.

TheEnkian responds:

Don't worry about the barrel in the cave, it's empty.

A good start. I suppose ill definitely play more it's 2.5 for a few reason though

#1 it's a split into chapters game. not a full game really i can't judge the whole game if ive only played a part of it.

#2 the animations while smooth take to long in battle it's a little annoying

#3 can't get the capitalist medal since i beat the game without starting over.

in future episodes add a small area to fight monsters on the isle maybe even an optinal boss.

TheEnkian responds:

It is a full game, it's just a short game. Also, if the animations were much shorter then there wouldn't be animations. The future chapters will have optional bosses and areas, but they won't be tied to Nowhere Island. It's sole purpose is for data transfer.

Thanks for checking out the game!

I would normally give a game like this 4 and a half stars. I would love to play this game further, but so far there are some issues that prevent me from enjoying it fully.

First, J/K/P doesn't really feel that good to me for commands. Many successful games of this type have alternate control schemes or mappable inputs. Arrow keys and Z/X/C seem to be common.

Secondly, the UI is clunky and sluggish. It takes a good 2 seconds to interact with anything. If this wasn't a game where you had to talk to a lot of people and interact with a lot of things, this wouldn't be an issue, but it's disconnecting when you have to wait this often.

Finally, the menu systems could use a reworking. They aren't as easy to use as I would like. The layout is unintuitive, and the white text on light blue background doesn't stand out. I would recommend a dark overlay behind the white text, so that it's easier to read. Also, since we can use the mouse in the menu, it'd be beneficial to have a menu button in the game, as well as an exit button for main menu and a back button for submenus.

If you can fix these things, it'd make things easier for a lot of people, myself included. But as it is now, it's just too tedious to play, and so I'm going to take off a star for that.

I wish you good luck on your next chapter, and I hope these concerns will be addressed.

TheEnkian responds:

Thanks for taking the time to give this feedback.

I'd agree that maybe having Z and X function alongside the J and K buttons could be a good shout to add in. I'm not sure what you mean about the UI though, it runs quite smoothly for me. I can get in and out of dialogues quite quickly?

If you don't mind PMing me, what do you mean about the menus not being as easy to use as you'd like? Which things in particular stand out?

Thanks again for the review!

Was a fun and addicting games i am hoping that the second will have a more involved story and more skills i liked that you could turn up or down the encounter rate made it useful to level for the boss only gripe i have is that there isn't an explanation on magic weakness and that you could run into monsters that can nearly 1 shot you right at the start.

TheEnkian responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, my goal for the second game is to have it be about 6x the length, if not more, and it'll certainly have lots more story, skills, characters and side quests.

Yeah, I thought people would appreciate the ability to change the random encounter rate. A lot of people are against random encounters these days it seems so as long as I'm including them, adjusting the rate was a definite idea for a feature.

The early monsters shouldn't give you much trouble, you may have just gotten unlucky with how often they're using skills. Sorry about that!

such a good rpg very addictive xD luv it

TheEnkian responds:

There'll be more to come soon enough, a lot of art has been done for the second chapter already. I can't reveal too much more in case I start to get ahead of myself :P
