Reviews for "Rogue Fable II"

This is the best game I've met on NewGrounds so far and the best free rouge-like game I've ever played. So well designed, very balanced. And very fun to play. Congrats!

Maybe I'm dumb but what can I use gold coins for?
Great game.

JustinWang123 responds:

Buying items in shops, thought those don't spawn until deeper levels. Thanks for review!

Great game. Reminds me a lot of Dungeon Crawl Stone soup.

I found a bug though, I casted Orb of Fire at some enemies as I entered the level, tried to wait which made me climb up the stairs I came down, went back down the stairs to find my orb still traveling to the enemies. When it exploded the monster's hp read Nan and when I climbed up and down the stairs the game crashed.

JustinWang123 responds:

Thanks for review! The motivation for this project was essentially that I love DCSS but damn I don't always have 8 hours to play. So this is an attempt to distill down the essence of DCSS plus a bunch of other games into as small of a package as possible while still maintaining the sense of scope and depth. Sorry about the crash. The crashing merchant, the NAN orb of fire and I are going down to the basement this weekend and only one of us is coming out alive.

Way too addicted to this game. Thanks for adding another class to the game.

JustinWang123 responds:

Thank you! Ranger coming in next few days and eventually the legendary Ice Mage that many people have noticed should be included but is currently disabled.

It'd be a good and original thing if everything doesn't look like it was stolen from "Pixel Dungeon". A game exactly like this except with a search button.

Copying other peoples games to make something like it is not a good thing to do; it shows you're unoriginal and you need to copy others to even succeed in completing your goals.

JustinWang123 responds:

If you're unaware, maybe google roguelike. Its an entire genre of games with a long history stretching back to the early 80s. Notable examples over the years are games like NetHack, ADOM and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. These ideas did not originate with Pixel Dungeon.
