Reviews for "Rogue Fable II"

Great rougelike, I had a lot of fun getting my ass beat as a rogue and then becoming an utter juggernaut as a warrior. The contrast was striking, and it shows how deep the game can be, strategically. It was a great experience, right up until the game seemed to crash. I don't know the cause, but I can tell you the circumstances. I had fallen through a trap door to a the 4th level, and killed my way around the place, but I wanted to get some loot I had left behind on the 3rd level so I went back upstairs. After clearing the 3rd level (and killing a tough sonovabitch elite red guy), I went to the downstairs tile to get to the 4th level again, and the game went black.

Sort of disheartening, because I was having a lot of fun and had a huge stockpile (by roguelike standards), but that's life. I'll probably come back to this later after I raise a glass to my lost warrior.

Very fun and addicting. Most of my thoughts have been covered, but 2 things:

1. I may have missed it, but there doesn't seem to be a way to sell to the merchant. It'd be nice to be able to unload unneeded gear for some extra gold.

2. It might just be bad luck, but it seems like 4 out of 5 chests give me darts. Nice to get sometimes on melee characters, but for magic types these were useless and all all classes i got way more then needed.

I really like this game! Reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

No matter how much I continue to die and rage, I always come back for more.

This is great. I love the play mechanics. You did a great job on making the more mundane and unknown aspects of playing a Roguelike game more enjoyable. Like other reviewers, the Necro class is way to powerful. Also a glaring missing feature is a way to cancel out of the game and return to the main menu. Or at least I didn't find one. The Storm Mage could be fun if his Special wasn't so limited in range. The Rogue is terribly hard to play.

JustinWang123 responds:

Thanks for the feedback! The classes are not supposed to necessarily be balanced with each other in terms of difficulty so I'm fine with some classes being easier. Warrior and necromancer are definitely the easier classes. Rogue is definitely the hard one.

I'll add in an escape to main menu with the next update (can save the game directly at the point you exit at rather than just the last time you use stairs).

Rogue might need a bit of a boost. I'm thinking of replacing sleeping dart with a sort of sleeping grenade that knocks out enemies in a small radius. I'm also thinking of doing something like having your stealth skill add to the amount of critical damage you deal to unaware enemies with a melee weapon to simulate the rogue sneak attacking.
